Description
Santos Football Club is more than just a team, it’s a pillar of Jamaican football history and a beacon of youth development in Vineyard Town, Kingston. Founded on April 16, 1964, by former Jamaica national team coach Winston Chung Fah, the club’s team colors are in honor of the Brazil national team. From its inception, Santos hit the ground running, winning Jamaica’s Division III in their first year and rapidly climbing through Division II and I.
Despite early setbacks, including a disqualification in 1966, Santos rebounded with resilience to claim back-to-back championships and emerged as undisputed champions by 1967. Under the legendary leadership of Winthrope “Jackie” Bell from 1970, the club entered a golden era, winning five consecutive Craven A National League titles (1973–1978) and going six full years without a single defeat (1973–1979).
Santos continued to build on its legacy under the leadership of Carlton “Spanner” Dennis, who guided the club to a Major League title, back-to-back Super League titles, consecutive KSAFA U-20 championships, and three successive JFF National Premier League playoff appearances. That chapter helped reignite pride and performance at the club but today, the infrastructure no longer reflects the strength of its legacy or the needs of the youth it serves.
Their home football field is a critical space for mentorship, training, and community building which is in urgent need of rehabilitation. That’s why this year, Sweat Fete has partnered with Santos Football Club where part proceeds from our charity fitness event and your generous donation will go directly toward rehabilitating their playing field. When you give to this cause, you’re helping preserve a legacy, empower young athletes, and uplift a community through sport.
Help us transform the field, so these youth can transform their futures.
